“Jacob was really friendly and took us on a more local tour so there weren’t any other tourists around. His knowledge was great including history nature and wildlife info. He gave us better recommendations for travel destinations too which we are definitely going to use. His jokes were definitely corny but he was such an entertaining guy all the way we can forgive him 😁 We only saw deer but lots of tracks and the weather was glorious. The mountains and river were stunningly beautiful. I’d recommend this tour.”

“The tour was great. Very informative, and not like reading a textbook; information you might not be told by someone who wasn't local, or personally invested. Jacob is very personable and his enthusiasm was infectious. My husband and I were stoked to learn some interesting facts (tree sunscreen!), and some things made you think a little more about life.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 15 reviews · 1 hour 30 minutes (approx.) · from $48

Meet at the Canmore Recreation Centre for a private, English-language walk of about 1.5 hours. Guides such as Jacob and Ben lead you along the Bow River, past old mining sites and bridges, and through historic downtown, with stories about cowboys, coal miners, Indigenous history, geology, railways, and the people who built Canmore.

“We took this tour in early October and it was sunny and no snow, so maybe a bit lucky, although a Jacket was still required. The tour starts at the Rec center, goes along Bow river, by an old mine, across a couple really cool old bridges, then down through the center of the historic down-town area. Our guide knew about the geology of the area, the ancient history of the natives, the settlers of Canmore including some of the prominent figures in the area historically, the economic and political forces that shaped the history of the area, and are still shaping it. We had a great time.”
